Associated Food Stores, based in Salt Lake City, Utah is a retailers' cooperative that supplies about 600 independently-owned supermarkets in an 8-state region.
It was founded in 1940 by Donald P. Lloyd, president of the Utah Retail Grocers Association, and 34 retailers.
In addition to serving independent retailers, it also has corporate-owned stores (Dan's, Dick's Lin's and Macey's) and heavily advertises the Western Family name. It distributes Western Family Foods products in its stores.
Their motto is "Only the Best".
